App Layouts & Premise
Bike theft is a common phenomenon around the world. On average, over 188,500 bicycle thefts are reported each year in the United States. And only 5% of the stolen bikes got recovered.
However, the number of stolen bikes might be even higher than what’s reported since many cyclists didn’t even bother to fill out a police report. They believe there’s little can be done to recover their bikes.
Therefore, we wanted to design something that prevent the bikes from being stolen and also track the bikes. We also looked into different ways for people to protect their bikes.

Competitive Analysis
In our competitive analysis, we found that many of the apps have aspects and features we want such as social and GPS features but not a tracking feature - and vice versa. We also found that the majority of our target audience was heavily focused on working towards fitness goals, thus many of the apps would also include features like heart trackers or have a version of the app that can be accessed on an Apple watch. Overall, in order to remain competitive in this market, we must focus on improving upon these features and differentiating ourselves with our tracking and locking features.
